‘Game On!’ McElroy Packaging Invests In A North American First
A year ago, McElroy Packaging in Orrville, Ohio, ramped up the latest installment in the company’s eight-year equipment-investment and facility-expansion plan: the EMBA 295 QS Ultima flexo folder gluer. The 295 QS Ultima is the newest member of EMBA’s family of converting machines, built on its patented Ultima platform, and McElroy Packaging’s edition is the first in North America — and third in the world. The Ultima series features faster set-up times, zero crush technology, and EMBA Real Direct Drive and top print technology for consistently high print quality. In addition, the machine’s twin-feed system feeds two blanks simultaneously, making it capable of running up to 24,000 sheets/hour.
“When we started our search, we looked at everything because I did not want to make a lateral move,” explained Steve McElroy, President and CEO of the family-owned company. “I thought, ‘If we’re going to do this, let’s get the best technology that we can get. Let’s get something that’s going to outlive us all.’ And EMBA came in and presented the 295.”
